Attorney Spotlight: Getting to Know Pearl Walker
At Law Stein Anderson, we believe that great attorneys bring not only legal knowledge and experience to their work, but also unique perspectives, passions, and life experiences. We recently sat down with Pearl to learn more about her journey to the legal profession, what drew her to trust and estate litigation, and a few fun facts outside the office.
What inspired you to become an attorney?
It’s always been a dream of mine since I was a kid.
As I got older, my interest in the law grew through studying topics like criminal justice and social psychology. Those experiences shaped my viewpoint of the world and reinforced my desire to make a meaningful impact through my work. I felt that becoming an attorney would allow me to do that.
I also have to give some credit to Legally Blonde, which I watched more than once growing up.
What stood out to you about Law Stein Anderson when considering your next chapter?
There are several things that stood out to me when I was considering LSA as my next chapter. What stood out most was how welcoming everyone at LSA is and how much they prioritize a positive work environment.
You’ve handled a wide variety of legal matters throughout your career. How has that experience shaped your practice?
Working across diverse matters has reinforced the importance of adaptability and direct, clear communication. Exposure to different areas of law has also strengthened my ability to quickly assess unfamiliar issues and develop solutions to more complex problems.
What is one lesson you’ve learned during your legal career that continues to guide you today?
I had the pleasure of working with an attorney who had more experience than years I’ve lived and who was gracious enough to give me advice whenever I asked.
Something the late Chris Mears taught me was that if you have a great case, you have a great case. He believed in being straightforward about the strengths of your position. His advice is something I will always carry with me.
What drew you to trust and estate litigation?
I was drawn to trusts and estates in law school because it’s an area of law that’s relevant to so many people’s lives, including my own.
I also wanted to help families through the difficulties of trust litigation. It is a very difficult decision to proceed with litigation, and many of these cases involve family members. Being able to help people navigate those challenges is something that is meaningful to me.
What do you think clients need most from their attorney during a legal dispute?
Clear and consistent communication is what a client needs most. A lot of clients simply want to know the status of their case and understand the next steps. Communicating realistic outcomes enables clients to have greater trust throughout the legal dispute process.
What do you enjoy most about helping clients navigate challenging legal situations?
I appreciate the trust clients place in me and the LSA team. Achieving a favorable outcome for someone who has placed that trust in us makes it that much sweeter.

BEYOND THE OFFICE
What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I don’t think many people know this about me, but I am related to the famous baseball player Cy Young. He is my great-great-uncle on my mother’s side, and his favorite (and I think only) niece was my grandma. He did not have any children, so he left everything to my grandma.
Looking back, it’s funny to think that a family inheritance story would eventually connect to the area of law I practice today.
What’s one place you’d love to travel to?
This is probably niche, but I really want to travel to Antarctica through the Drake Passage. How many people get to say they’ve (1) sailed through the Drake Passage and (2) gone to Antarctica? Not many.
We understand you enjoy baking. What’s your favorite thing to bake?
I have been told I make a great banana bread. I’ve made it so many times that the recipe is basically muscle memory at this point.
When you’re not practicing law, how do you like to spend your time?
I usually spend time with my friends or reading. I recently started trying new hobbies like painting as well. I also very much enjoy attending sporting events, especially baseball and football games. Go Niners!
We are excited to welcome Pearl to the Law Stein Anderson team and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make for our clients. To schedule a consultation with Pearl, call (949) 501-4800 or complete the contact form below.
