BIOGRAPHY

Nathan (“Nate”) R. Loftin, Esq. is a Senior Associate at Law Stein Anderson, where he focuses on trust administration, estate planning, and tax strategy. Since joining the firm in 2003, Nate has guided clients through the complexities of estate and trust matters, helping families preserve wealth and minimize tax exposure.

Nate’s extensive experience includes business planning, probate, and related tax planning, as well as Proposition 19 planning. He serves as lead counsel on the majority of the firm’s trust administration cases and several probate matters, overseeing the administration of over $400 million in trust assets and helping clients save tens of millions of dollars in estate taxes.

He has also represented clients in high-net-worth estate tax audits and property tax reassessment appeals, achieving consistently favorable outcomes. In addition, Nate has collaborated on continuing legal education materials for the National Business Institute, specifically regarding estate planning for qualified plans, IRAs, and other advanced planning tools.

Nate earned his J.D. from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California, where he received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for legal writing. He also holds a B.S. in Sociology (Criminology emphasis) from the University of Utah. Before entering law school, Nate completed the Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy in Salt Lake City and worked full-time as a Correctional Habilitative Specialist in the mental health unit of the Utah State Prison—an experience that instilled a deep sense of empathy and discipline that continues to impact his legal practice today.
