Bryan Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree from Chapman University School of Law. After this, he obtained his Master of Business Taxation degree from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.
Bryan acquired his Juris Doctor degree with an emphasis in Tax Law. He began his legal career specializing in estates and trusts. Throughout his career, he has prepared hundreds of estate plans for his clients.
Bryan has also guided numerous trustees and administrators through contested and uncontested probate and trust administrations, many of which involved courtroom proceedings. Bryan enjoys working with all types of trustees and administrators, whether they are individuals administering a close family member’s estate, private professional fiduciaries, or corporate trustees. Furthermore, he has successfully guided trustees through IRS audits of estate tax returns and has prepared numerous pleadings, including accounts and reports, and 850 petitions. He has also prepared and filed numerous Form 709 U.S. Gift Tax Returns and Form 706 U.S. Estate Tax Returns.
Aside from estates and trusts, Bryan also has experience protecting property owners from property tax reassessment. This includes proper planning for real property transfers and filing claims for the parent-to-child and grandparent-to-grandchild property tax reassessment exclusions.
Additionally, Bryan has helped his clients with business transactions, including drafting purchase agreements, operating agreements, buy-sell agreements, and shareholder agreements for limited liability companies and closely held corporations. He’s assisted with mergers and acquisitions, focusing on the preparation of due diligence disclosure logs, and final preparation and execution of documents. He now assists with the sale of business entities, the creation of purchase agreements, and the preparation of due diligence logs.
Bryan is a current board member of the Orange County Bar Association’s Trusts & Estates Section, where he serves as the OCBA’s Judicial Liaison to the Probate Department of the Superior Court of California, Orange County. In that capacity, he has regular meetings with the presiding probate judge and his staff, and reports on the results of those meetings to the members of the OCBA.
In his free time, Bryan volunteers as a youth soccer and youth basketball coach. He is also a board member for the Orange County Chapter of the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Alumni Association, where he is a past-president.
